Well after a few wins on the trot for J and myself our little money making scheme is getting interesting. We have just agreed to up the ante should results go our way and if either of us get to the stage where we have £40 in our kitty the bet size will increase from £5 to £10 however if we go back underneath £40 it will go back to a smaller £5 bet. This should hopefully make us become millionnaires slightly quicker.
I have been thinking of a change in tactic also recently. After a bad start I have been betting on live tennis matches which has been doing me well, unfortunately though when the tournaments get towards their end, such as the Madrid masters is now the usuals always win (Roger, Rafa, cough Mandy cough) so less easy betsto pick up on. Football has not been kind to me and with my terrible record in J's prediction league im not sure thats the way to go. As my kitty has increased I did conider putting a few long term bets on as in the past I have always quite liked this type of bet and adds to extra anticipation. Certain markets I have been looking in at the moment are:
Golden boot winner - Torres has just been ruled out for 4 games and at the moment is the favourite to win the golden boot again which is reflected in the odds, however, Ronaldo and Adebayor are currently at 9/1 surely if they bang in a few goals between now and Torres' return their price will shorten offering a potential lay opportunity?!?!
X Factor - I have seen a bit of this years X Factor (don't all berate me too much) The girls are easily the best/most talented/and also the favourites however how many times do girls ever win this sort of competition? Apart from Leona who has got to be a one off, the majority of winners are blokes, presumably because the mums fancy them or want to mother them, the young girls fancy them and also that no real men watch the competition so are unlikely to vote for the fit girl. In conclusion (you can tell i'm in essay mode again) there is a guy called scott (bit of a knob in my opinion) toddler called Owen (except its spelt the Welsh way something like Efgjejwooon) and someone called Austin (gay name but apparently he is fit) so should one of these do well it will be Austin and he was an early front runner but had fallen down the order slightly du to good comments to the girls last week. Therefore a cheeky punt on him might go down well.
Sports Personality - I am a little bit confused by the favourite for sports personality Rebecca Adlington. Yes she did win 2 unexpected gold medals and break a world record and deservedly deserves to be up in the running, however, didn't Chris Hoy get 3 gold medals? Doesn't this make him 1 gold medal better? Presumably this is due to Hoy being a favourite to win gold before the Olympics started, being Scottish probably wont help and because cycling is possibly a less popular event. Already got some money riding on both of them already but don't know whether to lump a bit more on, i'm guessing the bookies don't normally get these things wrong and there is a certain Mr Hamilton who could throw his hat into the ring if he ever stops whining about Massa and knuckles down to do the business.
A less gambling related post to come soon....promise. P.S. very excited for the next 2 weekends, Daz and J coming to visit and the return home to see everyone (or drink on my own in London somewhere)!
