Placement

Everything is a little depressing at the moment due to one thing or other, but don't worry I will do my best to keep my posts happy :)

In a previous post on another placement I told of some little gripes I had with people saying things wrong or being generally dumb. Today I was stuck in the office doing patient's notes while I heard nurses and care workers come up with the following gems. Now I am not necessarily all that knowledgable with some phrases however I am sure they merged a few together to make these up.

'Im down the swanny without a paddle' shouldn't this be 'up the swanny' or 'down the stream without a paddle'

The next one she came up with was 'spat the dummy out the pram' is this mish mash of 'spat the dummy out' and 'threw the toys out the pram'.

The best of the lot though 'you shouldn't count your chicken until they are hens'. Seriously you may laugh but they were so annoying. I also had to have lunch with three 50somethings all discussing their love life. I almost threw my dinner up. The conversation was on their sons and what they as mothers allow them to do...the conversation moved on to letting them have girlfriends over when the fattest Occupational Therapist aged about 60 said 'well we make more noise than they do'.

Anyway I'm gonna sign off now as I'm in a foul mood and don't think this is reading very well.
