Bad Mood

Well today has found me in a bad mood! Not only did I not manage to do yesterdays post which must have upset an awful lot of people but today has gone from bad to worse. I fully intended having a lie in and then spending the day relaxing alongside doing odd bits of work for the week ahead. It has not turned out like that at all, for starters my car failed its MOT and is going to cost a bomb to fix, I was contemplating ditching it and starting again however it would probably cost pretty much the same and I haven't got the time to spend faffing around looking for new cars. Secondly my printer broke yesterday so I have had to fork out for a new one of those as well as there is loads of printing required for placement tomorrow. Thirdly I have had a final request for my electric bill which is more expensive than it should be, Fourth: I have just had to pay £350 to live in crappy halls in Lincoln for a month for my next placement and rent is due for my Eaglescliffe home next week. Fifth: HSBC have decided to almost halve my overdraft as they don't think I am a student anymore, I had to walk all the way into Yarm (as I don't have my car) only to find out that the HSBC Yarm branch is pretty much one of the only banks in the north east not to open on a Saturday. Sixth: Due to this being closed I can't cash in the holiday money paid by my mates so I am going to be over my overdraft by even more. Eighth: Lost another accummulator today by just one person losing, I think I am going to give up on them they are useless. Nineth: David Villa is confirmed to be out of the tournament putting my top goalscorer bet and Spain victory bet in the balance still not sure whether to lay them both yet to guarantee a win.
Well this has possibly been the most depressing post yet, and reading it back has made me even more fed up than I was when I started. So I'm going to sign off with no joke of the day, no football talk and going to spend my time looking at bus timetables for next week...public transport...how depressing!
Tenth: Pretty much every Arsenal player wants out! :(
More uplifting post sometime soon... I promise!

30 Love

To start with I am absolutely knackered, all this work is unfamiliar to me and I am getting home and almost falling asleep straight away, which is no good considering I still have 'homework' to be getting on with and there is football and tennis on the telly! Hospital is a little odd at the moment, as we had several discharges at the end of last week that means free beds therefore new patients. I think half the ward have dementia and are for want of a better word bonkers! I do hope I never get it but to be fair to them they seem to enjoy themselves, one particular lady has been having a horrible argument with her mum all day, screaming at the top of her voice, this wouldn't normally be a problem but shes 96 so as you can imagine the chances of her mum being around to argue with are quite slim. Apart from that it's going OK but I do have a visit from the uni on Monday where I am going to be tested.....scary stuff.
Aside from hospital the tennis has been going well, hopefully you all lumped your money on Dancevic to beat Nalbandian and walked away with a tidy sum. I was also quite pleased to have backed Becker (Ben not Boris) to beat 4th seed Davydenko which also went my way. On the downside I had a 12 man accummulator today that had 11 results go my way...the one that didn't...World Number 3 Novak Djokovic losing, what a tosser! On that note let's move onto Djoke of the day....haha... do you like what I did there? This is a hospital related joke particularly as I am currently seeing lots of amputees as mentioned before.
Joke of the Day:

In a hospital for victims of land mines, a man wakes from surgery. Man: “Doc, something’s wrong… I can’t feel my legs!” Doctor: “yes, we’ve had to amputate both your arms,”
Football Story of the Day:
Today I'm going to talk about Andrei Arshavin the Russian playmaker. This is a guy who in my opinion has been hyped up to the extreme by the media recently. Bare in mind that he was suspended for the first 2 games so has only played the last group game and a QF but seems to be in the papers every day. Yes he is a good player, but is this not all a little familiar. Think back to Euro 1996 (probably my favourite tournament I have seen, probably due to it being in England and also the first one I ever followed fully) Czech Republic play some great football and a hairy guy called Poborski scores a lobbed goal past at the time the best keeper in the world Peter Schmiechel. United instantly snapped him up and he turned out to be a bit of a flop. Utd supporters will probably disagree but to be honest compared to the majority of other signings he was poor. Skip forward a few years and to the World Cup where Senegal beat France in the opening game no sooner than the final whistle was blown El-Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao were bought by Liverpool. Diouf has been a horrible addition to the Premier League and as for Diao god knows where he is now, think he might have been released by Stoke. So getting back to the point... will Arshavin turn out to be another in the long list of disappointments? If rumours are to be believed there is a chance he could be wearing the red and white of Arsenal next year so let's hope not, although whether Arsenal realy nead a man who has just stated it's his dream to play for Barcelona after recent events and rumours involving current players having a dream to play for other clubs such as Flamini, Hleb, Adebayor and Utds Ronaldo is still to be seen.
Football is on soon so better get some dinner, lets hope its a goodun, I have heard Turkey are tempted to use their 3rd choice keeper as a makeshift striker though, could be worth a laugh!
P.S. Well done Dazzy for getting a blog on the go. I look forward to hear all about your Australian adventure.

Fifteen Love

I am pleased to say that I have been given a day off so am spending it catching up on work I should have done over the weekend and watching the tennis. Not much time so I will keep it brief. Oh dear Tim Henman's in the pundit team and Johnny Mac is wearing a quite hideous jacket.
Gambling:
What a win for Spain! Luckily I had Spain to win from the start of the tournament as it was my team drawn out of hat with my housemate, my other team was the Czechs who were useless so I am pinning all my hopes on Cescs red army now. David Villa is my only other bet in the competition as top goalscorer. I am very tempted to lay both bets now as I felt I have let my luck ride a bit too long. I can see Russia pulling off a suprise and am aware that a very dodgy Turkish defence could quite easily let in a shed load of goals to other golden boot candidate Podolski. I shall have a think.....It is also Wimbledon so that means strawberries and cream, copious amounts of pimms and ridiculous 20 selection accumulator bets that always seem to be going your way until the last match of the day. My bet is specifically looking at the male players as I find it more interesting to bet on, the women's game is dominated by the top few seeds who will thump anyone not in the top 10 whereas the men's game could have the number 100 in the world knock out several seeds who hate grass and scrape their way to the QFs. I will probably do a few accumulators over the course of Wimbledon so will discuss these more when I know a little more about some of the players (a little risky seeing as I am going to be relying on the highlights programme to watch most of it this year). Also I have just been tipped that a player called Frank Dancevic who is due to play David Nalbandian in the first round may be a good shout. He played extremely well in a pre-Wimbledon tournament and Nalbs can be a bit all over the place sometimes and although he had a good Queens he did end up getting annihilated by Djokovic. Anyway Federers about to come on court in a rather fetching cardigan so I might go watch seeing as this is my only day off!
Football Story of the Day:
What a disappointment.... there is no football on tonight!! Also it has been an incredibly slow news day on the football front, all the papers are still continuing with the Ronaldo saga, with a few popping up with the odd rumours about who Chelsea may bring in. None of this is of any interest to me so I will move on to joke of the day and hope some interesting transfers happen tonight.
Joke of the Day:
A man with no arms or legs is sunbathing on the beach. He is approached by three beautiful young women who take pity on him.The first says to him, "Have you ever been hugged?"The man shakes his head, and she leans down and gives him a hug. The second says to him, "Have you ever been kissed?"He shakes his head. She kisses him.Rather abruptly, the third girl asks, "Have you ever been fucked?""No," says the man, his eyes lighting up."Well, you are now, The tide's coming in."

Useless Turks!

Hello avid readers, I'm sure your all on the edge of your seats awaiting the latest post but I am afraid nothing very interesting today. Rain outside and work to be done so should be a fun filled weekend. Starting to get quite excited about my holidays now, a trip to bournemouth although not a holiday will be a much needed bent fest and Tenerife should be quality. Also I found out today I have passed all my assignments for the year so I am in a rather good mood and may start drinking whilst doing my work this arvo! On a less good note Turkey got through to the Semis! They were useless, absolutely dreadful but it was quite good to see the Tottenham man Luka Modric miss his pen, a sign of things to come lets hope!
Probably a good time to mention Wimbledon now as well. Unfortunately for the first time in ages I am not going this year, bit dissapointed to be honest and this is also the first year in ages that I probably will see very little seeing as I am now a working man! I hadn't realised but just checked the draw and Djorkovic has been put in the top half, which is excellent news for Rafa and for my bet. Roj has also been given a bit of a stinker of a draw with potential meetings against: Monfils, Hewitt, Gonzalez, Ferrer and players that particularly like grass such as Berdych and Ancic so that is one bet that is currently going well (just wait and watch Raf lose in the first round). I did however lose quite a bit earlier this week as I forgot to lay my bet of Czech republic to win the Euros! Wasn't quite expecting a Turkey fight back in that game either! Murraymania will no doubt be back in force come Monday but I have a sneaky feeling that Fabrice Santoro could through a spanner in the works, fingers crossed! I think I might dabble with an accumulator this arvo and see how it goes.
Joke of the Day:
A guy decides to have a party where his guests come as different emotions – from fear to happiness, and so on. The first guest shows up covered in green paint with the letters N and V painted on his chest. “What have you come as?” the guy asks. “I’m green with envy.” “Wow, that’s brilliant,” says the host. “Come in and have a drink.” A few minutes later, a woman turns up, covered in a pink body stocking with a feather boa wrapped around her private parts. “Wow, great outfit,” says the host. “And you’ve come as…” “I’m tickled pink!” she says. “Brilliant,” the host replies. Moments later the doorbell goes again, only this time its two naked Irish blokes at the door. One’s standing with his penis in a bowl of custard while the other’s got his cock suck in a pear. “What the hell are you both doing?” screams the host. “Well, I’m fucking dis custard and he’s come in dis pear!”
Facebook Summary:
Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be a slight return of these damn applications, I seem to have gone through a dry patch of receiving a request to join some daft application but have had loads this week. Also most of my news feed is now being taken up with these fan pages. So and so is now a fan of ... Area nightclub or so and so is now a fan of Shakira! Very annoying! Nothing much of interest on FB at the moment but I did just get a friend request from a guy called KARAN, this is the boy James scared the shit of at the tennis club and reduced to tears. He never returned to the club. This all started as the poor boy knocked into the radiator forcing the grill to fall out (something that happened on a regular basis anyway) one of Karan's friends came to tell the bar man of this unfortunate incident, which turned out to be James. James stormed into the hall and screamed a lot of obsenities.... WHAT THE F@£K HAVE YOU DONE!!!! Karan has not been seen since.. til today on FB. I rejected the friend request.
Does anyone read this btw? Just 1 comment so far... is this worth continuing? Is the content good, bad, ugly? Anyway work and beer time.

Almost the end of a long week

Well I have made it to Thursday and am still going although all this work is actually making me quite tired. Done more reading for this placement so I don't look like a complete spanner than I have done for most of the year so it is all taking its toll. Today was exciting, a lady had a massive Pulmonary Embolism which killed her, it was quite unexpected so an autopsy has to be completed. We had actually planned to do some physio with her but had decided to do another lady first which was lucky as didn't really fancy someone dying on me, just seeing them was enough for me! So not the best of afternoons but there was some funny tales at lunchtimes from the physios discussing faux pas that they had done. One guy decided to buy a patient a birthday card, he liked his booze and so the physio thought a booze related joke card would be best. At the end of his shift he went card shopping and bought one which read a little like this....

Whats different about a snail, whale, fish and you but not about a horse.

(Open Card)

The horse isnt legless!

This would normally be quite a funny joke however he had forgotten that the person he was sending the card to did infact have a double amputation of his legs! Apparently the card didn't go down to well.

Other similar events included telling an amputee to hop along as he was running late, whistling the tune to who wants to live forever in an intensive care ward and telling a patient with a life threatening illness to do his exercise as they wouldn't kill him!

Anyway away from the hospital there should be some interesting football games this week, I would quite like Portugal, Croatia, Spain and Holland to go through as I think so far they have easily been the best teams however I am certain that a very average German team and very lucky Italian side might just scrape through. We will have to wait and see.

Hard Work!

Well this is only going to be a short one and by short I mean no football story of the day, no joke of the day and certainly no facebook summary of the day, the reason being that I am overwhelmed with the amount of reading I have to do for work tomorrow. This placement malarchy is not as much of a doss as I was hoping. My supervisor is piling me up with so much work I am already overwhelmed and its only day 2, at least I might be learning something though. High points so far: all the team seem really nice and all are a lot of fun, I can't actually believe they get away with some of the conversations that they have in patients earshot! Also saw an ex-England defender visiting some relatives back in the days where England football team were a team you were proud to support! Low points so far: Lot's of very old, very frail people, can be quite depressing! Out of a ward of 20 patients I think that only one of them has been reasonably chirpy. One particular patient today was lying in bed and I had to help her mobilise by bending her knee up, just as I was half way through this process she explained to me that as I was doing this she felt the need to go for a poo, oh what fun!

Right I'm off to read, hopefully might get to watch the football tonight with dinner (Czech v Turkey game was awesome, last nights games were pants!).

The Weekend!

Well its the day before placement and I should really start doing some reading, I have been advised on reading up on amputees, falls, in particular neck of femur fractures, instead I have opted to play Pro Evo all morning, which has gone very well I must add. I have also decided that instead of revision this afternoon, a trip to see the Indianna Jones film would be more enjoyable follwed by watching the football this evening with copious amounts of alcohol. Not looking forward to the 6o'clock alarm going off tomorrow though. Next post all about placement... how exciting!
Joke of the Day:

Q: What does a blonde put behind her ears to make her more attractive?
A: Her ankles

Facebook Summary:

When you first log into facebook the first thing seen is your news feed where you are filled in with all the latest comings and goings of your friends, this morning here is the much needed information I needed to know! 5 of my friends have joined groups relating to Big Brother, either get so and so out because they are boring or.. I hate Big Brother – Get over 1 million people and I’ll break into the house. One girl from school has been tagged in 60 photos and she is quite hideous, my bro has been writing comments on pretty much everyone’s photos. Hopefully it will liven up soon when people start returning back from holiday with scantily clad pictures of themselves!

Football Story of the day:

Darren Bent linked with Sunderland. Quick flashback to this time last year… Numerous Spurs fans run around stating that they will get the 4th spot next year as Arsenal are rubbish! Tottenham stump up £16.5m buying Charlton striker Darren Bent. To put this in perspective for the same amount of money Arsenal had bought; Adebayor, Hleb and Fabregas and still had money left over. But what was Tottenham’s return for buying this top England Striker? A lousy 8 goals, and to top that off they never made it out of the bottom half of the league table all season.
